Established as a partnership between Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National Healthcare Group (NHG), the Asian Centre for Health Behavioural Insights & Interventions (HABITS) aims to improve population health through multidisciplinary and translational research to support interventions, policy and programmes; strengthen national capabilities through the integration of translational research into health intervention processes; and increase Singapore's regional and international profile as a centre of excellence for health behavioural sciences.
We are looking for a Research Fellow to work closely with the centre's Directors to manage research projects and to secure research grants. The role will focus on project management, research expertise, managing and day-to-day research operations, such as data storage, budgets, expenses, assets, and ethics approvals.

We are looking for a Research Fellow to work closely with the centre's Directors to manage research projects and to secure research grants. The role will focus on project management, research expertise, managing and day-to-day research operations, such as data storage, budgets, expenses, assets, and ethics approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research applying AI and machine learning techniques to behavioural and population health data relevant to Singapore's diverse communities.
- Develop predictive and explainable machine learning/deep learning/genAI models using multimodal cross-section and longitudinal data (e.g. surveys, digital platforms, wearables, administrative or longitudinal datasets).
- Collaborate with NTU faculty, clinicians, government agencies, and community partners to support translation of research into practice and policy.
- Contribute to the preparation of research grants (e.g. MOE, MOH, NRF, A*STAR, NMRC) and support project management and reporting requirements.
- Publish findings in high-impact international journals and present at regional and global conferences.
- Support the design and evaluation of AI-enabled behavioural health interventions, dashboards, or decision-support tools.
- Ensure compliance with IRB/ethics, data governance, and responsible AI principles, including fairness, explainability, and privacy protection.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students where appropriate.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Psychology, Public Health, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline. Evidence of productive history working in academic and healthcare/regulatory environments is desired.
- Evidence of strong foundations in machine learning, statistical modelling, and data analytics.
- Demonstrable experience in handling and analysing health, behavioural, or social science datasets.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R, and familiarity with open access AI/ML libraries.
- Track record (or strong potential) of peer-reviewed publications.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
- Desired but not essential: Possesses international experience, with a strong network of contacts in the region.
