Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) leads systems-level energy research for tropical megacities, covering the full energy value chain from generation to advanced end-use solutions. Through interdisciplinary programmes, living labs and large-scale testbeds, ERI@N drives impactful translational R&D with strong industry deployment. More details: https://www.ntu.edu.sg/erian
We are seeking a Research Fellow to develop innovative research concepts and translate them into high-impact publications, patents, and deployable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop building cooling load profiles using energy modelling tools
• Build thermo-fluid dynamic models of HVAC and district cooling networks
• Propose improved system architectures and network efficiency strategies
• Design and validate optimal control approaches and conduct test-bedding
• Collaborate with project partners and mentor junior researchers
• Prepare project reports and publish research findings with industry engagement
Job Requirements:
• PhD in Mechanical/Energy Engineering or related field with experience in building energy or thermo-fluid network modelling (Candidates who do not possess a doctoral degree but have very high relevant experience in the domain (HVAC/district cooling) and the specific tools/platforms indicated below can still apply, we can consider other similar roles appropriate to the qualification)
• Hands-on expertise in Modelica-based tools and familiarity with HVAC systems and ASHRAE standards
• Strong proficiency in modelling platforms, data analysis, and optimization techniques
• Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet project timelines
We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
