Key Responsibilities

1. Network Setup & Configuration

  • Support setup of industrial Ethernet networks for automation systems.
  • Configure switches, routers, and firewalls under supervision.
  • Assist in assigning IP addresses, VLAN configuration, and communication testing.
  • Support communication setup for PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems using Modbus TCP, BACnet/IP, and Profinet.

2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform network health checks and assist in fault diagnosis.
  • Support engineers in resolving network communication issues.
  • Maintain updated records of devices, network diagrams, and configurations.

3. OT Cybersecurity Support

  • Learn and apply basic cybersecurity best practices for OT systems (e.g., network segregation, access control).
  • Assist in firewall rule updates, antivirus deployment, and monitoring tasks.

4. Documentation & Project Support

  • Prepare as-built drawings, network configurations, and commissioning reports.
  • Support FAT/SAT testing and site implementation activities.
  • Coordinate with PLC, SCADA, and IT teams for integration and testing.

Requirements

  • Diploma / Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer, or Network Engineering.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in networking, industrial automation, or IT/OT systems.
  • Basic understanding of:
    TCP/IP networking, routing, VLANs, subnetting
    Industrial protocols: Modbus TCP, Profinet, BACnet/IP
    Switches, routers, and firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, Moxa, or Hirschmann)
  • Strong willingness to learn about OT cybersecurity (IEC 62443) and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows OS, command line tools, and basic network diagnostic tools (Ping, Tracert, Wireshark).

Preferred (Added Advantage)

  • Completed certifications like CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or Fortinet NSE1-2.
  • Experience in BMS or industrial control projects (internship or site exposure).
  • Familiarity with Siemens / Schneider / Mitsubishi PLC communication setup.
  • Basic understanding of SCADA or HMI connectivity.

Soft Skills

  • Eager to learn and work in an industrial environment.
  • Good problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation ability.
  • Willing to travel to site locations when required.
