We are hiring on behalf of our client, a global leader in energy trading, for a talented and driven Core Platform Software Engineer. This role is central to the development and enhancement of mission-critical IT systems that support trading, risk management, pricing, and logistics across a multi-commodity landscape. The successful candidate will join a high-performing team focused on delivering scalable, resilient, and user-centric solutions that drive business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Gain deep business knowledge of the full transaction lifecycle in a multi-commodity energy trading environment to engage directly with users and stakeholders.
• Design and develop new features within Allegro Horizon (ETRM), including:
  • Bespokeviews and user interface customizations using Allegro functions and ClassEvents (C# .NET).
  • Data model enhancements via Allegro tools or direct SQLServer modifications.
  • Server-side functions structured around web services and ClassEvents.
• Maintain and enhance existing Allegro customizations to ensure performance, stability, and responsiveness.
• Strengthen Allegro's integration with other systems and improve unit testing capabilities.
• Contribute to the development of custom applications such as APIs, loaders, reports, and data pipelines using technologies like:
  • Azure IaaS/PaaS
  • Crystal Reports
  • Python
  • Azure Databricks
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Power BI
• Support initiatives for end-to-end test automation and continuous integration.
• Apply strong engineering principles to deliver high-quality software aligned with modern development practices.
• Demonstrate ownership of problems, working independently and collaboratively across technical teams.
• Proactively learn and master vendor platforms to support and extend system capabilities.
• Adapt to agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) while remaining flexible to other delivery approaches.
• Provide 3rd line production support for critical systems.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience with Allegro ETRM systems.
• Strong proficiency in C# .NET, including:
  • Service-oriented development (WCF, Web API, ASMX)
  • Data access (ADO.NET, Entity Framework, NHibernate)
• Advanced SQLServer skills, including database design, development, and performance optimization.
• Experience in energy trading, commodities trading, or corporate banking.
• Familiarity with Azure Databricks, Data Factory, and Windows Server infrastructure.
• Exposure to Azure PaaS/IaaS and automation toolkits.
• Experience with PowerShell and Python is desirable.
• Knowledge of SpecFlow or Cucumber is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
