Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.

Responsibilities:

• Design and architect ELK, Opentelemetry and monitoring solutions for microservices, containers, VMs and bare metal infrastructure

• Implement ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for centralized logging and analysis

• Implement Opentelemetry for distributed tracing and metrics collection

• Integrate monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Zipkin for metrics, tracing and visualizations

• Manage and scale ELK and Opentelemetry implementations on Kubernetes, cloud platforms like AWS, GCP

• Troubleshoot issues with logging, tracing and monitoring; provide tuning recommendations

• Stay up-to-date on latest developments in open source observability tools and techniques

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience designing, implementing and managing observability platforms

• Expert-level knowledge of ELK stack, Opentelemetry, Grafana, and other leading open source tools

• Experience setting up observability for complex microservices architectures and large-scale distributed systems

• Knowledge of observability best practices like traces sampling, logs parsing, metrics storage, etc.

• Experience with observability in public cloud platforms like AWS, GCP

• Ability to build and lead an observability team and mentor junior engineers

• Strategic mindset to evaluate and incorporate new technologies into observability stack

• Experience with scaling and securing logging and monitoring platforms

• Understanding of metrics, logs and traces correlation to troubleshoot effectively

• Passion for open source software and continuous learning mindset
