The candidate will be part of the team developing a federated computational infrastructure for multi-domain modelling and simulation. The candidate will focus on simulation development and system integration to build a federated system-of-systems which can be used to address complex policy issues.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Design, build, and implement a federated integration architecture for system-of-systems modelling
• Design and implement simulation modules, including extensions for existing simulators.
• Design, experiment, and execute simulation scenarios.
• Optimise the computational cost and performance of the integrated simulation.
• Calibrate, verify, and validate the integrated simulation.
• Develop connectors, interfaces, and adapters to facilitate model communication and data interchange.

Education and experience requirements:

• Bachelor or Master degree in computer science, software engineering, transportation, or related fields.
• Experience with system integration or executing phased deployment plans is a plus.

Technical skills:

• Strong proficiency in a wide range of programming languages, including Python, Java, JavaScript, and C++.
• Familiarity with simulation software and tools (e.g., SimPy, MASON, Repast, Simulink, AnyLogic, SUMO).

Experience/familiarity with any of the following is a plus:

• Containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Digital twins.
• Simulation integration standards and frameworks (e.g., HELICS, HLA, DIS).
• High-performance communication technology (e.g., gRPC, MPI, ZeroMQ).
• Model pipelining tools (e.g., Airflow, MLflow, Argo).
