The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan's leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

We are seeking a seasoned and hands-on CloudOps Lead to join our Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE). This role is critical in managing the operations and automation of our multi-cloud environments across AWS and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The ideal candidate is a proven people leader with deep technical expertise in cloud operations, automation, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), containers, and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the CloudOps team to ensure high availability, reliability, security, and performance of cloud environments.

• Manage and operate infrastructure on AWS and OCI, supporting critical applications and services.

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform, and automate configuration and provisioning tasks using Ansible, PowerShell, and Bash scripts.

• Own the CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, enabling automated build, test, deployment, and infrastructure changes.

• Administer and support containerized workloads, including ECS (Elastic Container Service) and other container solutions.

• Establish best practices for monitoring, logging, backup, patch management, and disaster recovery across cloud environments.

• Collaborate with architecture, security, and application teams to deliver secure and reliable cloud solutions.

• Drive automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce manual intervention and improve operational efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with cloud security policies, governance, and regulatory standards (e.g., MAS TRM, JSOX).

• Provide leadership during incidents, perform RCA, and implement preventive measures.

• Monitor cloud usage and optimize cost across AWS and OCI.

Required Qualifications

• 12+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years leading CloudOps or infrastructure teams.

• Proven hands-on experience in AWS and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

• Proficiency in GitLab CI/CD, including pipeline creation and automation for cloud resources and applications.

• Strong scripting and automation skills using CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and Bash.

• Solid understanding of ECS and container-based deployments, orchestration, and lifecycle management.

• Deep knowledge of cloud operations including IAM, VPC, security groups, monitoring, logging, scaling, and backups.

• Experience supporting production-grade systems, with a focus on reliability and performance.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Certifications (Required/Preferred)

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional (Required)

• OCI certifications (Preferred)

• CI/CD and container-related certifications (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) are a plus

Preferred Experience

• Experience in regulated environments with compliance obligations (e.g., JSOX, MAS TRM).

• Experience participating in cloud migration and disaster recovery exercises.

• Familiarity with observability tools like CloudWatch, Grafana, or OCI Monitoring.
