Job description

At The Elly Store, we're more than just a children's clothing brand - we're a homegrown Singapore label built on thoughtful design, beautiful prints, and heartfelt service. Since 2010, we've dressed little ones in pieces that blend comfort, creativity, and quality - whether it's for daily adventures, first birthdays or family celebrations. Our store teams play a vital role in bringing our collections to life and turning every shopping visit into a memorable experience.

We're looking for a Store Manager who will take full ownership of the store's performance and be a daily brand ambassador - someone who leads by example, builds strong customer relationships, and inspires the team to deliver exceptional service. This is a hands-on leadership role perfect for someone who is organised, resourceful, and passionate about retail. You'll have the opportunity to shape how the store runs, contribute to sales and visual storytelling, and grow with a local brand that values heart, creativity and integrity.

As Store Manager, you will lead a small team and act as a role model for excellent customer service, visual merchandising standards, and operational discipline. You will be entrusted with creating a positive work culture, motivating your team, and running the store like it's your own.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Experience & Service Leadership
  • Deliver a warm, thoughtful and personal experience to every customer - both parents and children alike.
  • Support customers with sizing, styling and gifting suggestions, including guiding them through custom or personalised orders.
  • Lead by example on the shop floor and train the team to exceed customer expectations.
  • Handle difficult situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Follow up with customers on pending orders, exchanges, personalisation requests or loyalty rewards to build long-term relationships.

2. Team Management & Training
  • Supervise, mentor and motivate a small team of retail staff to meet daily goals and uphold brand values.
  • Schedule shifts, manage attendance and approve time-off requests while ensuring proper coverage for peak hours and launches.
  • Conduct regular briefings to align the team on new launches, sales targets, stock arrivals and visual merchandising updates.
  • Train new hires on product knowledge, POS systems, store SOPs and customer service standards.
  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to help each team member grow and improve.

3. Sales & Performance
  • Drive the team to meet daily, weekly and monthly sales targets.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, adjusting strategies to improve conversion rates, average basket size and customer retention.
  • Suggest and implement in-store activities, promotions, or customer outreach to boost traffic and sales.
  • Manage customer feedback and complaints constructively to improve the shopping experience.

4. Store Operations & Maintenance
  • Ensure the store is always clean, tidy and presentable - including all shelves, windows, play area and displays.
  • Take ownership of safety, hygiene and maintenance standards within the store.
  • Monitor and report store needs (lighting, fixtures, cleaning supplies, tech support, etc.) to office.

5. Visual Merchandising
  • Ensure visual displays and product arrangements reflect the brand's creative vision and current campaigns.
  • Re-merchandise displays in line with new launches, seasons or stock levels.
  • Provide feedback to the office on what's working well (or not) visually in-store.

6. Inventory & Stock Management
  • Oversee the display of new stock.
  • Organise and maintain a neat, logical storeroom that allows the team to find stock quickly and efficiently.
  • Monitor bestsellers and low-stock items to request timely restocks.
  • Conduct periodic stocktakes with the office team and ensure accurate POS stock counts.

7. Cashiering & Reporting
  • Handle all payment types accurately and securely.
  • Open and close the register daily, ensuring reconciliation and proper documentation.
  • Monitor POS system accuracy (e.g., correct pricing, discounts, inventory levels).
  • Submit daily sales and customer feedback reports to the office.

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum GCE 'N' Level; additional retail or business management qualifications a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of retail or store management experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and families
  • A calm, patient, and proactive attitude
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Able to work independently, solve problems on the ground, and make day-to-day decisions
  • Must be available to work weekends, public holidays and rotating shifts
  • Passionate about creating joyful shopping experiences in a children's lifestyle environment
