Part of the Hospitality Unit, the General Manager (GM) oversees the Nanyang Executive Centre.
Key Responsibilities are as follows:
- Pre-Opening Leadership & Project Readiness: Lead the operational planning and stakeholder coordination during NEC refurbishment and pre-opening phases, ensuring NEC is ready for launch on schedule and within scope.
- Strategic Oversight of Operator Performance: Act as the owner's representative in managing the appointed hotel operator under the Hotel Management Agreement (HMA), ensuring delivery of service standards, financial KPIs, and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Asset Management: Shape the strategic direction of NEC, ensuring it aligns with institutional goals and remains competitive within the hospitality landscape.
- SOP & Operational Framework Development: Oversee the development and implementation of all standard operating procedures, service protocols, and quality assurance frameworks in collaboration with the operator.
- Financial Monitoring & Governance: Review operator-submitted budgets, forecasts, and performance reports, ensuring commercial targets are met and financial reporting is accurate and timely.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Institutional Integration: Work closely with internal departments and senior leadership to ensure NEC supports institutional priorities, campus events, and key visitor experiences.
- Risk, Compliance & Sustainability Oversight: Ensure the operator adheres to all safety, legal, and sustainability requirements, and implement appropriate governance frameworks for risk mitigation and business continuity.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 15 years in the hospitality industry with at least 6 years in a leadership or managerial role, preferably within a university or large-scale event environment and overseeing a major refurbishment project.
- Proven track record of managing hospitality assets, enhancing customer experiences, and driving profitability.
- Extensive experience in fostering and sustaining collaborations with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in using hospitality management software and tools.
