NIE invites applications for the position of Analyst Programmer to support a project that aims to develop and deploy two customised GPTs, powered by GenAI, to guide and cultivate 1) the critical reasoning and 2) academic writing of graduate students. The project seeks to harness the affordances of GenAI in providing thinking scaffolds and timely feedback for students to learn and practise cultivating critical reasoning in relations to the articles they are required to read for their graduate courses as well as be guided in understanding the qualities of good academic writing and how to write in an appropriate academic register with appropriate referencing conventions. This is a contract position till 30 June 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of two customized chatbots
  • Assist in integrating the chatbots into NIE's courses
  • Serve as the contact person for project-related data collection
  • Conduct basic data collection and analysis
  • Contribute to the writing of reports, documentation and potential publications
  • Manage project-related financial and administrative tasks
  • Help organise and coordinate sharing sessions, seminars or workshops to promote cross-institutional learning around chatbot use in education


Requirements
  • Interest in educational technology, GenAI and higher education teaching and learning
  • A University degree in education, social sciences, humanities or a related field
  • Prior research-related work experiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Organised, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks
  • Tech-savvy and quick to learn new digital tools; familiarity with chatbot platforms, customization processes, and data analysis tools is a plus
  • Experience with event coordination or academic administration is advantageous
