1. Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management
Develop and execute investment strategies for maritime-focused funds (e.g., shipping funds, offshore energy funds, infrastructure funds).
Allocate capital across asset classes (e.g., vessel acquisitions, shipping stocks, bonds, private equity, derivatives).
Monitor and rebalance portfolios based on market conditions (e.g., freight rates, oil prices, geopolitical risks).
2. Market & Industry Analysis
Track global shipping markets (tanker, dry bulk, container, LNG sectors).
Analyze macroeconomic factors (trade flows, commodity demand, interest rates).
Assess regulatory changes (IMO emissions rules, sanctions, trade policies).
Evaluate technological disruptions (alternative fuels, automation, digitalization).
3. Asset Valuation & Due Diligence
Conduct financial modeling (DCF, NAV, IRR analysis) for maritime assets (vessels, ports, offshore rigs).
Perform technical and commercial due diligence on potential investments.
Assess vessel values using market benchmarks (e.g., Clarksons, Baltic Exchange indices).
4. Risk Management
Hedge exposure to freight rates, fuel costs, and currency fluctuations using derivatives (FFAs, futures, options).
Monitor credit risks (counterparty, charterer defaults).
Ensure compliance with fund mandates and investor risk appetite.
5. Deal Sourcing & Execution
Identify investment opportunities (second-hand vessels, new buildings, distressed assets).
Negotiate terms with shipowners, banks, and private equity partners.
Structure financing (sale-leasebacks, debt funds, joint ventures).
6. Investor Relations & Reporting
Communicate fund performance to institutional investors (pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, HNWIs).
Prepare periodic reports (KPIs, market outlook, portfolio updates).
Raise capital for new funds or follow-on investments.
