Your role

This role offers you the opportunity to showcase your construction cost estimating expertise and technical skill to make a direct impact at one of the largest data centre providers in the world. As a Cost Quality Assurance Manager/Cost Estimator, Global Implementation Services you will be responsible for managing cost estimating process and providing installation costs and value engineered recommendations for data centre white space fit-out work performed by the Implementation Services across the sub-set of countries/markets within EMEA DLR portfolio working cross-functionally with our Sales Engineering, Design & Construction, Data Center Operations, Sales, and Finance teams.

You will be responsible for providing cost estimates, ROMs budgets and be responsible for cost quality assurance for customer white space installs within your assigned sub-set of countries/markets with a strong focus in Korea region.

What you'll do

• Manage the installation cost estimates for both colocation cage/cabinet/interconnection and large-scale enterprise/hyperscale suites builds.

• Work closely with Sales Engineering, Sales and Portfolio Management Group to understand customer or internal requirements and to ensure costs are competitive and accurately reflect installation costs.

• Analyze vendor quotes and compare vs DLR internal database.

• Maintain database of unit costs for work across sub-set of countries/markets in the EMEA's portfolio

• Work with our design engineers and vendors to identify cost reduction opportunities.

• Work closely with the Implementation Managers to identify unique circumstances that could influence installation costs (site specific)

• Quantity take-offs and estimating responsibilities for a range of data center white space fit outs.

• Work with contractors and suppliers to obtain and maintain best pricing.

• Provide quotes and ROM budgets for prospective deals/builds.

• Work collaboratively with Data Center Design Engineering, Sales Engineering, Sales, Design and Construction, DC Ops, Procurement/Supply Chain and Finance teams.

• Research cost trends in various markets and provide recommendations for updates of the cost estimating tool's unit cost database by validating cost estimates vs actual costs using advanced reporting engine (provided by DLR).

• Proactively work with the Supply Chain/Procurement team to ensure new product SKUs and their costs are added to the cost estimating tool's database.

What you'll need

• College Degree preferred (i.e.: Engineering or sim) but not required.

• Minimum 10 years of experience with data center construction and/or telecommunications/data center industry

• Expert level knowledge of white space fit outs including rack, cage, electrical distribution, and data cable infrastructure

• Expert level knowledge in reading/interpreting construction plans, one-line drawings, and construction specifications

• Expert level knowledge of Excel

• Advanced level proficiency in the use of MS Project, Word, Access and Visio

• Proficiency with AutoCAD (advanced)

• Familiarity with project cost accounting

• Familiarity with the local codes

• Advanced analytical and quantitative skills

• Must be detail oriented with excellent communications, interpersonal and oral/written presentation skills.

• Strong multi-tasking abilities

• Must be a self-starter, proactive, flexible, and able to work within and meet deadlines.

• Must be organized and able to reprioritize at a moment's notice.

• Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission critical facilities environment.

• Knowledge of Korean and English dialects is essential, as the scope of work has a strong focus on the Korean market.

• Familiarity with Salesforce (SFDC), Service Now, Oracle, Yardi

• General understanding of unit costs (labor vs material), although knowledge of actual cost for individual items is not required

• Exhibits customer centricity and natural drive to work with other areas of the business to provide the customer with the best possible outcome.
