The primary focus of the role is to deliver timely, world class fundamental insights to short-term LNG trading and be the primary interface between Shell Energy Integration & Fundamentals (SEIF) and the traders on the desk. The analyst will leverage SEIF's supply and demand models, databases and global modelling infrastructure to deliver real-time fundamental views to the trading desk as well as provide fast-paced analysis in response to trader inquiries. The analyst will also deliver and coordinate trader questions for response from the wider SEIF global gas fundamentals team, including longer duration analysis on sector, country, region and global market developments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver SEIF's global gas and LNG fundamentally-based market calls and underlying justification to short term trading desk in Singapore. The major focus will be communicating the overarching narrative for SEIF's directional market call via a global imbalanced model that incorporates all of SEIF's supply and demand forecasts.
  • Be the primary interface with traders as to field and distribute questions and requests for analysis as well as perform fast-paced, high-level analysis that meets the timeliness of the trader request. Fast turnaround time on requests is essential to meet the pace of the market and the traders need to act within it.
  • This role WILL NOT have direct responsibility for sector- or country-level fundamental modelling but will possess the knowledge and understanding of SEIF's forecasting required to provide clear, concise and fast answers to trader questions. This will include benchmarking and comparing forecasts and underlying beliefs of influential external forecasters.
  • It is critical that this role is completely in sync with SEIF's supply and country analysts as well as the Team Lead, Short-Term Analytics to always provide a consistent and aligned narrative for the global market as well as sector, country and global level forecasting beliefs.
  • Actively develop alternate market cases - in coordination and consultation with the wider team - that provides both proactive and reactive analysis to traders.
  • Running, reviewing and adjusting the global gas imbalanced model on a consistent basis to showcase to traders. This will include highlighting material changes to the model as well as communicating associated fundamental risks and potential alternative outcomes.
  • Coordinating with fellow Short Term LNG Analyst in Dubai for optimal global model updates as well as materials to best communicate the underlying fundamental beliefs, changes and risks. This process will require a constant communication regarding trader feedback and requests from Singapore and Dubai, but also from trading desks in London and Houston, to optimize analysis for maximum value and fastest delivery.
  • Power BI (PBI) development, statistical software coding skills and AI prompting for the independent development and delivery of ad hoc analysis requested by traders.
  • Develop and refine the global gas imbalance model in collaboration with the wider SEIF organization, including SEIF's Pod Structure (small teams of analysts, data scientists/engineers and IDT developers) digital and data team and supporting IDT, to ensure the model's analysis is meeting needs of the evolving market environment and trading business. This will require manipulating models in SEIF's Data Science/Machine Learning model platform as well as other statistical software packages.
  • Coordinating with fellow Short Term LNG Analyst in Dubai for optimal global model updates as well as materials to best communicate the underlying fundamental beliefs, changes and risks. This process will require a constant communication regarding trader feedback and requests from Singapore and Dubai, but also from trading desks in London and Houston, to optimize analysis for maximum value and fastest delivery.
  • Interface with other trading desks, as well as strategic Shell functions and external stakeholders (consultants, data providers, etc) to collect and synthesize market insights and intelligence to calibrate and models, forecasts and analysis.
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis as requested by line manager and key stakeholders.


Requirements:
  • Detailed LNG fundamentals market experience
  • Proven experience working in an LNG/gas environment
  • Fundamentals market modelling, price forecasting, trading recommendations, statistical forecasting applications
  • Generic: strong communication/presentation skills, excellent problem-solving ability
  • minimum 4 years of relevant experience
