About the Role

The Project Risk Manager is responsible for establishing and executing the project's risk management framework to ensure that risks are identified, assessed and mitigated throughout all project phases. The role provides strategic oversight in areas such as cost, schedule, scope and technical exposure, and ensures risk controls are integrated into planning and execution. This position works closely with project leadership and functional teams to support decision-making, maintain risk transparency, and safeguard project delivery against uncertainty.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the project's risk management procedures, tools and reporting structure
  • Facilitate risk identification workshops and conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments
  • Maintain and update the project risk register, ensuring ownership and mitigation plans are defined and tracked
  • Develop, document and follow up on risk response measures, contingency plans and escalation triggers
  • Monitor emerging risks and updates in project exposure, providing regular reporting to project leadership
  • Prepare risk dashboards, performance indicators and key summaries for management review
  • Integrate risk processes with project scheduling, cost control, change control and decision gates
  • Support deployment of risk analysis software and ensure risk data accuracy and traceability
  • Provide guidance and training to project teams on risk methodology and best practices
  • Foster a proactive risk awareness culture across engineering, procurement, construction and support teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management or related field; professional certification (e.g. PMI-RMP, MoR) is an advantage
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in offshore, marine or energy project management, including 5+ years in project risk management
  • Strong understanding of EPC/EPIC project execution, schedule and cost risk modelling, and multi-contract project environments
  • Experience in quantitative risk tools and techniques (e.g. Monte Carlo simulations, probabilistic analysis)
  • Proficient in written and spoken English for technical reporting and stakeholder communication
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, coaching and cross-team coordination skills
  • Able to work independently in a fast-moving, multicultural engineering environment
  • Willing to travel to vendor facilities, fabrication yards or project sites when required
