Position Overview
The Financial Controller will be the operational backbone of the finance function, directly supporting the CFO in all aspects of financial management, reporting, and control. This is a critical hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial data. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented technical accountant with strong leadership skills, poised to step up and manage the team's core output.
Key Responsibilities
• IPO Preparation & Financial Reporting: Execute the preparation of all financial statements and supporting schedules for the IPO process. Ensure strict adherence to IFRS/SFRS(I) and SGX disclosure rules in all reporting. Work closely with the CFO and external auditors to manage the year-end audit and the IPO readiness audit.
• Accounting Operations & Month-End Close: Own and manage the entire month-end and year-end close process across the group, ensuring flawless accuracy and efficiency. Oversee all accounting operations, including AR, AP, GL, and revenue recognition.
• Technical Accounting: Research and implement complex technical accounting standards relevant to the group. Prepare position papers on key accounting issues (e.g., revenue recognition, business combinations, fair value measurements) for review by the CFO and auditors.
• Internal Controls & Compliance: Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal control policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, mitigating financial risk across the organization.
• Systems & Process Improvement: Play a key role in the selection and implementation of a new group-wide ERP system. Lead initiatives to digitize and automate financial processes, enhancing scalability and efficiency.
• Budgeting & Forecasting Support: Support the CFO in the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes by providing accurate historical data and variance analysis.
Requirements
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a Controllership or Deputy FC role within a complex, multi-entity environment.
• Strong technical accounting background with in-depth, hands-on experience applying IFRS/SFRS(I). Big 4 audit training is essential.
• Direct experience supporting an IPO, audit process, or a major fundraising round is highly advantageous.
• Proven experience in improving accounting processes, implementing new systems (ERP), and building a strong control environment.
Professional Qualification
• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent) is mandatory.
• Full professional proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Mandarin is a strong advantage to liaise with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders and review supporting documents.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the education sector or a multi-location, service-based business model.
• Prior experience in a company that has gone through an IPO
• Hands-on experience with a leading cloud-based ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion).
