We are representing a leading asset owner in the energy and process industries, seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their project development and execution team. This role focuses on delivering mechanical engineering input across the full lifecycle of major capital projects-covering feasibility, FEED, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning.
As part of the owner's engineering team, you will act as the subject matter expert for mechanical systems and equipment, managing consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure engineering quality, regulatory compliance, and smooth project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the discipline focal point for all mechanical engineering matters in capital projects.
- Manage and supervise the work of FEED consultants, EPC contractors, and vendors for mechanical systems and equipment.
- Prepare and issue mechanical basis of design, project specifications, datasheets, and scopes of work for various project phases (feasibility, FEED, EPC).
- Review and evaluate technical proposals from consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors.
- Validate and approve engineering deliverables related to mechanical discipline; develop documentation where required.
- Support submission of documents for regulatory approvals and coordinate with contractors to ensure compliance with local authority requirements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including project management, other discipline engineers, and operations teams.
- Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and review related documentation.
- Ensure proper review and uploading of approved as-built deliverables into the document control system.
- Maintain adherence to internal Quality Management Systems and QA/QC protocols throughout project execution.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience within large-scale process or industrial plant projects, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, or utilities sectors.
- At least 5 years in a lead or senior mechanical engineering role within a reputable engineering consultancy or EPC firm.
- Experience preparing technical specifications and datasheets for static equipment and package units, performing technical bid evaluations, and reviewing vendor documentation.
- Involvement in at least 2 full-cycle FEED or EPC projects, either from the owner or contractor side.
- Strong working knowledge of international and local codes and standards relevant to mechanical design and equipment.
- Field engineering experience including installation, construction, and commissioning will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with engineering databases and digital document management systems is preferred.
