About Engineering Good
Engineering Good (EG) is a non-profit organisation based in Singapore, founded in 2014. Through social innovation initiatives, we endeavour to support disadvantaged and special needs communities. Our work focuses on two main areas: Digital Inclusion and Assistive Technology.
We refurbish used laptops, and redistribute them to underserved communities such as low-income families. This not only provides essential access for disadvantaged individuals and families to the digital world but also promotes environmental friendliness by reducing e-waste.
In our Assistive Technology programmes, we leverage the diverse talents of our skilled volunteer community to create assistive technology products. These products help persons with disabilities (PWDs) overcome barriers to daily living activities, education, recreation, and employment, enabling them to reach their full potential and live more independently.
Our Impact
Our work has enabled low-income students to attend online classes, disadvantaged persons to seek job opportunities online, assisted PWDs in daily living activities, and much more.
If you are also passionate about making a difference and want to be part of this supportive and innovative community, we invite you to join us in empowering those who need it most.
Job Purpose
In 2014, Engineering Good was started by a group of engineers who wanted to use their skills for good. They encountered an opportunity to build assistive devices, as well as create accessible toys for children with disabilities. Assistive devices on the market are often costly and not specific to individual and unique needs. Plus, there were many unmet challenges in the community.
Today, Engineering Good is a community of engineers, technologists, tinkerers and makers coming together to tackle problem statements directly from the community. The projects are made open-source so that they remain affordable, accessible and sustainable beyond EG's support; people can customise them to their own needs and develop them further, too! Along the way, problem solvers can learn about the different disability communities and how to design for them directly from the users.
As the Manager for Assistive Technology Programme, you will play a critical role in running and managing the day-to-day operations of our flagship AT programmes:
You will also be responsible for evolving and evaluating new and existing AT programmes to meet the ever-changing and challenging needs of the disability communities.
As an ambassador for Engineering Good, you will champion our mission to use technology to make things possible for persons with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Partnership & Community Engagement
