EngineeringThe Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites applications for the position of Associate Professor of Japanese Environmental History in the History program at the School of Humanities.
The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research on environmental histories of Japan. The period of specialization is open. The successful applicant will join a vibrant team of historians and contribute to the History program's existing strengths in interdisciplinary and Asian history.
In addition to developing their own research program, the successful candidate will also be involved in curriculum development and will conduct courses on environmental history, Asian history and their other areas of expertise. A willingness to contribute to the History department and the School of Humanities through undertaking service responsibilities will be considered a major asset.
The succesful candidate will be expected to:
• Develop a robust, world-class research agenda and maintain a strong publication record;
• Secure research funding from competitive grants;
• Mentor and supervise graduate students and postdoctoral researchers;
• Contribute to course development at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and deliver engaging and effective teaching;
• Undertake administrative and leadership roles at the department and institution level;
• And mentor junior faculty members.
Requirements:
• A PhD in history or in a related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in research, evidenced by a strong publication record in reputable journals and books with reputable publishers.
• Recognition in the research community, such as invited talks, awards, or memberships in professional societies.
• A good track record of supervising students, research staff, and/or postdocs.
• Demonstrated capacity to contribute to curriculum development and deliver excellent teaching.
• Experience in administrative, leadership and service roles.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
