Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal/Senior Hardware Engineer to join our engineering team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing hardware solutions for next-generation optical transceiver and optical circuit switch. You will lead the design and development of complex hardware systems, including circuit board layouts, integrated components, and custom hardware accelerators, working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware with software and system architecture.
As a senior hardware engineer, you will take ownership of key projects, contribute to the advancement of new technologies, and mentor junior engineers in both technical and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex hardware systems, including PCBs, power systems, and embedded components for high-performance applications.
• Define hardware specifications, architecture, and interfaces to ensure seamless integration with software and system-level goals.
• Work with cross-functional teams (software, firmware, optical, signal processing) to define requirements and guide the system-level integration of hardware components.
• Responsible for advanced optical module and optical circuit switch system and circuit design, provide design reviews, drive system/product design trade-offs, make data driven design choices to define product architecture
• Define and execute comprehensive test plans for hardware validation, including unit testing, integration testing, and system-level performance testing.
• Troubleshoot hardware-related issues and support debugging of complex hardware systems to ensure product readiness.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level hardware engineers, guiding them in hardware design practices and problem-solving techniques.
• Act as a key liaison between engineering teams to resolve cross-disciplinary issues and support system integration efforts.
• Document hardware designs, specifications, test procedures, and results to ensure traceability and compliance with industry standards.
Qualification:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. PhD is a plus.
• 7+ years of experience in hardware design, development, and testing, with a focus on high-performance systems, embedded systems, or communications hardware (optical module/networking switch/optical circuit switch or relevant communication products.
• Proven experience leading complex hardware design projects, from concept to production, in industries such as telecommunications, data centers, networking, or embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience with hardware design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence, Mentor Graphics, OrCAD).
• Solid understanding of high speed signal integrity and power integrity analysis and optimization on PCB/system channel link analysis, well versed in modeling and simulation using tools such as HFSS, ADS, SIWAVE, LTSPICE etc.
• Familiar with high speed digital and analog ICs (CDRs, DSPs, SerDes, TIAs, DC-DC Converters, LDOs).
• Knowledge in IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and PCIe spec will be a plus.
• Extensive experience with lab equipment such as Sampling Scope, RealTime Scope, Protocol Analyzer, BERT, PNA/VNA.
• Ability to lead and manage cross-functional projects, with a strong track record of successful project delivery.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willing to travel as require.
