The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is seeking to hire a Research Engineer to work on additive manufacturing for healthcare applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• To collaborate with researchers both locally and overseas to investigate properties of the additively manufactured materials
• To assist in 3D printing of metals and characterize their properties and microstructures
• To investigate the effect of processing parameters on the microstructures, biochemical compatibility and mechanical properties of the additively manufactured parts
• To write up reports and give presentations on findings

Job Requirements:

• B. Eng in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or related field
• Knowledge in Mechanics of Materials, Metallurgy, Microstructural Characterization and/ or Additive Manufacturing in advantageous
• Proficiency in English (oral and written) for research work
• Familiarity with Metal microstructure characterization is an advantage
• Familiarity with Failure of Metals is an advantage
• Knowledge in Manufacturing Technologies is an advantage
• Publication track record is an advantage
• Self-motivated, independent and can work well in a team
