The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) invites applications for the position of Research Associate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up lab-scale pyrolysis system and optimize the pyrolysis process
• Characterize feedstocks and final products
• Application of sludge biochar in odour control and heavy metals removal
• Perform sample analysis using advanced analytical equipment (GC, BET, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, etc.)
• Be responsible for data acquisition and processing
• Manage project budget and research team, interact with funding agencies
• Prepare research reports and presentation materials.

Job Requirements:

• At least have a Master degree in Environmental / Chemical / Biochemical Engineering, or related disciplines
• Hands on experience in biochar production and characterization. Experiences on biochar for odor control and heavy metals removal technologies will be advantageous.
• Good laboratory and planning skills.
• Ability to learn new techniques quickly.
• Good writing and communication skills in English.
• Possess self-motivation and independence
• Excellent teamwork awareness
• Able to commence work in short notice will be preferred.
