Role Overview

We are seeking an entry-level Assistant Engineer to support our Hardware Operations. You will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end operational lifecycle of the Company's hardware. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the position also supports vendor coordination and logistics management while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities

Operational Support & Assembly

• Support end-to-end operations for the Company's hardware, including inspections (incoming and outgoing), assembly, quality control, and deployment readiness.
• Perform basic assembly work and prepare analysers for deployment.
• Handle the preparation and packing of analysers and their accessories for shipment, ensuring proper protection of sensitive equipment.
• Clean, maintain, and prepare analyser accessories for deployment or redeployment in accordance with internal quality guidelines.

Quality Control & Compliance

• Conduct quality control (QC) checks on analysers parts and accessories, and analysers post-assembly, and prior to shipment to ensure compliance with internal quality standards.
• Maintain documentation related to the repair, maintenance, and refurbishment of analysers.

Logistics & Shipment Management

• Oversee logistics and shipment arrangements for analysers and related components to customers, partners, and internal business units across multiple countries.
• Handle import/export documentation, including applications for Certificates of Origin, customs paperwork, and records required for international deployments.
• Coordinate and manage import duties, taxes, and regulatory requirements associated with cross-border shipments.

Vendor & Supplier Management

• Manage vendor relationships, including suppliers of components and external assembly partners, ensuring timely delivery, cost control, and quality compliance.
• Support procurement activities, including sourcing of parts, raising purchase requests, and coordinating deliveries with vendors.

Inventory Management & Maintenance

• Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking stock levels, recording inventory movements, and ensuring availability of spare parts for maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure sufficient inventory levels are maintained to support deployments, after-sales support, and maintenance needs across business units.

Engineering Support

• Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar engineering drafting software, with the ability to produce simple, low-fidelity 3D drawings and sketches to support internal discussions.
• Operate and manage the company's 3D printer to produce hardware components for assembly, using existing STL files stored in the system. Monitor and manage consumable inventory and initiate reorders when stock levels run low.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Software Engineering, Data Science, Business Development, ClientOperations) to ensure smooth deployments and timely resolution of issues.

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

• Handle the investigation and troubleshooting of analyser issues that may arise.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline operational workflows, reduceerrors, and improve efficiency in logistics, inventory, and related operational areas.

Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline from a recognised institute of higher learning.

• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply; prior work experience isnot required.

• Positive attitude, willing to learn and strong problem-solving ability are essential for success in this role.

• Ability to work collaboratively across functions in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.
