Job Summary

Manage and lead comprehensive waste management operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and sustainability. Drive strategic initiatives, optimize budgets, and foster collaborative stakeholder relationships to advance environmental goals and service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of waste collection, transfer, processing, and landfill sites to ensure uninterrupted and efficient service delivery
• Enforce compliance with environmental regulations such as pollution control and landfill diversion by conducting audits and managing health and safety incidents
• Develop and execute long-term operational strategies, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and achieve sustainability targets including recycling goals
• Formulate, manage, and monitor departmental budgets to control costs and optimize resource allocation
• Recruit, train, mentor, and lead operational teams to cultivate a high-performance culture focused on safety and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with local councils, contractors, residents, and businesses to resolve issues, promote waste reduction programs, and build effective partnerships
• Oversee contracts and performance of external service providers and consultants to ensure service quality and compliance
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare detailed reports for management and stakeholders to inform decision-making
• Manage waste disposal sites, recycling centers, and transfer stations to maintain operational standards
• Analyze waste data to inform and refine operational strategies and public awareness campaigns
• Develop educational materials to increase public awareness of waste reduction initiatives
• Investigate incidents of illegal dumping and fly-tipping to enforce regulations and maintain community standards
