MAIN PURPOSE:

The primary responsibility is to apply engineering knowledge and expertise, build and maintain relationships, financial / contract management, quality orientation, safety leadership and continuous development in all aspects of crane, lifting and support service activities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Engineering:

• \tThe incumbent will be responsible for delivering assigned projects and supporting the delivery of projects encompassing, but not limited to, the following:

o\tAdministration of assigned project files

o\tLiaison with clients and subcontractors

o\tPreparation of calculations, work procedures and risk assessments

o\tWork to recognized quality standards

o\tDevelopment and management of project schedules

o\tCompletion of purchase requisitions

o\tArrange equipment dispatch and transportation

o\tCarry out site visits as required

o\tCompletion of close out reports and technical documentation

o\tProactive financial control of assigned projects, and review invoice drafts

o\tUnderstand and manage major risks that will affect delivery of engineering projects

• \tReceive guidance from experienced engineers to deliver administration and technical support within the department.

• \tThe incumbent must adopt a co-operative attitude towards being assigned alternative or additional duties to that which they are primarily employed.

Technical Duties:

• \tIdentify and specify basic mechanical components and tooling as required.

• \tIdentify and specify basic rigging and lifting equipment in accordance with approved lifting plans.

• \tDevelop knowledge of mechanical equipment replacement, repair or refurbishment.

• \tUnderstand and interpret crane and equipment mechanical drawings and data sheets

• \tEnsure best practice in all areas of mechanical system construction, installation, testing and commissioning.

• \tDetermine customer requirements and objectives and assist in developing specifications for projects / systems to ensure customer requirements are met.

• \tDevelop understanding of industry standards and directives in delivering projects to the required specification.

• \tOversee refurbishment and function testing of new, modified and refurbished equipment.

• \tPreparation of Factory Acceptance Test procedures, running FAT with client witness.

• \tCompilation of technical specifications and documentation packages.

Engineering Development:

The position requires the incumbent to assist in the development, compliance and continuous improvement of engineering processes and the engineering development system.

Process Development

• \tAssist with the development of team systems and working methods.

Personnel Development

• \tIt is expected that the incumbent will attend, and actively participate in, all training provided by company, whether internally or externally provided.

• \tCarry out continuing professional development necessary to maintain and enhance competence in own area of responsibility.

Meetings and Reporting

• \tActively contribute to meetings and discussions.

• \tReport on financial and operation progress of assigned projects to line management.

Liaison

• \tBuild and maintain positive and constructive working relationships with customers, sub-contractors, management, team members and other colleagues.

• \tWork co-operatively and productively with others to ensure planning, technical integrity and successful completion of projects.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• \tEngineering Degree or relevant qualification (e.g. Diploma/ VQ and proven work experience)

• \tGood team work ethic

• \tAbility to communicate effectively on technical aspects/ problems

• \tExperience working in/ delivery of engineering projects - lifting and mechanical handling experience is beneficial

• \tAbility to understand mechanical/ hydraulic/ electrical control systems on various machines

• \tGood knowledge and understanding of applicable industry codes and legislation

HSEQ RESPONSIBILITIES:

It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with and follows the Company's Policy for Health, Safety, Environment and Quality and takes an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Management Systems to maintain our system certification. The incumbent must report any accidents, incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to the HSEQ Department Manager.

The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company policies, procedures, guidelines, control measures, signage and permit conditions and to know what to do in an emergency. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises and shall take a proactive approach to Health and Safety
