Role Summary

The Site / Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising tunnel and MRT station upgrade / maintenance works carried out during engineering hours. The role involves close coordination with various trades (civil, structural, architectural, M&E, track, signaling, etc.), ensuring that all works are executed safely, on time, and in accordance with LTA / operator requirements and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Coordination

  • Plan nightly work activities within the available track / station possession time, including sequencing of works and trade interfaces.
  • Coordinate and brief subcontractors and vendors (civil, M&E, architectural, specialist trades) before start of shift.
  • Ensure all manpower, tools, equipment and materials are mobilized and ready before commencement of engineering hours.
  • Liaise with the client's representative, station staff and operations control center (through the appointed person-in-charge) for access, permits and work clearances.

Site Supervision & Execution

  • Supervise site works during engineering hours to ensure compliance with method statements, drawings, specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor progress on site and adjust work sequence where necessary to ensure completion within the possession window.
  • Conduct joint inspections with client / operator representatives when required.
  • Verify and record completed works (measurements, photos, checklists) for progress reporting and claims.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all works comply with Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) requirements, LTA / rail operator safety rules, and project-specific safety procedures.
  • Check that workers are briefed on risk assessments and safe work procedures prior to starting work.
  • Enforce use of proper PPE and safe practices in tunnel, track and station environments.
  • Participate in safety walks, toolbox meetings and incident reporting / investigations when required.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and update nightly work plans, method statements and checklists.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including manpower deployment, equipment usage, deliveries and as-built information.
  • Submit daily / nightly reports on work done, issues encountered and follow-up actions.
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing progress reports, work programs and technical submissions.

Technical & Interface Management

  • Review drawings and technical specifications; highlight discrepancies and propose solutions.
  • Coordinate interfaces between civil, structural and M&E works to avoid clashes and rework.
  • Support testing & commissioning (T&C) activities, including coordination of shutdowns, trials and functional tests.
  • Work with design / monitoring teams to support structural health monitoring, inspections and remedial works.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 0-5 years of relevant working experience in construction, infrastructure, rail, tunnelling or building projects; fresh graduates with strong interest in rail / tunnel works are welcome.
  • Comfortable with regular night work (11:00pm - 5:00am) and weekend / public holiday work as required by the project.
  • Basic understanding of construction methods for civil, structural and M&E works. Experience in rail / MRT / tunnel projects is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with WSH requirements and safe work practices in confined spaces and live rail environments is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with planning / coordination tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera) is an advantage.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English; able to coordinate with multi-national site teams and subcontractors.

  • Good teamwork and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple trades on site.
  • Positive attitude, willing to learn rail and tunnel maintenance / upgrade work.

Location: Singapore (tunnels & MRT stations)

Working Hours: Predominantly night shift during engineering hours (typically 11:00pm - 5:00am), with occasional day work for meetings and coordination as required.
