About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Project Engineer to support project execution, technical coordination, regulatory compliance, and on-site implementation of vertical farming systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge, good understanding of Singapore regulatory frameworks (SFA, BCA, NEA, URA & SCDF), and the ability to manage engineering activities both locally and overseas.

The candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and government officers to ensure successful and compliant delivery of vertical farm projects.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Coordination

• Support end-to-end project implementation for vertical farming installations.
• Coordinate engineering activities including system installation, integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Work closely with internal engineering teams, subcontractors, and external vendors to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
• Prepare project documentation, engineering drawings, layouts, and equipment lists.

Technical Engineering Support

• Assist in the design and development of vertical farming systems including LED lighting, hydroponics, irrigation, M&E systems, HVAC, and automation components.
• Conduct engineering calculations such as electrical load, water flow, airflow, and heat load estimations.
• Perform site measurements, system calibration, and troubleshooting during installation and commissioning.

Regulatory & Compliance Management

• Ensure project designs and installations comply with Singapore regulatory requirements:
  SFA - Licensing, facility layout compliance, food safety requirements
  BCA - Building code, structural and M&E regulations
  NEA - Environmental health, wastewater, emissions, noise
  URA - Land use, zoning, change-of-use submissions
  SCDF - Fire safety, egress, fire-rated materials, storage limits
• Assist in preparing documents for regulatory submissions and liaising with Qualified Persons (QPs), consultants, and government agencies.

On-Site Support (Local & Overseas)

• Conduct site visits for installation supervision, quality checks, and system validation.
• Lead or assist in on-site system commissioning and operator training.
• Travel overseas when required to support international project deployment, site inspections, and technical commissioning.

Project Handover & Maintenance Support

• Assist in handing over completed systems to clients with proper documentation and training.
• Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement works when required.
• Document lessons learned to improve future project execution procedures.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Environmental, Agricultural Engineering or related fields.
• 2-5 years of experience in engineering, project coordination, M&E systems, or system integration.
• Experience in vertical farming, hydroponics, HVAC, automation, or industrial engineering is an added advantage.

Technical Competencies

• Knowledge of horticultural lighting, hydroponics systems, irrigation, airflow/climate control, and automation integration.
• Competent in producing or understanding engineering drawings (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, etc.).
• Strong analytical skills for M&E calculations including electrical load, heat load, and water flow.

Regulatory Knowledge

• Familiarity with SFA, BCA, NEA, URA, and SCDF regulatory requirements.
• Experience preparing or supporting submissions for regulatory approvals is preferred.

Other Requirements

• Possess a valid Singapore Class 3 driving licence.
• Willing to travel overseas when required for project work, meetings, or site support.
• Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to handle multiple project tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
