Responsibilities:
  • Lead the integration of shipboard network components, including communication systems, radar, navigation systems, onboard controllers, and IoT-enabled marine devices.
  • Implement security-by-design principles for hardware and software integration and upgrades on vessels and offshore platforms.
  • Develop detailed integration and deployment plans, including test protocols, risk mitigation, and rollback strategies for onboard systems.
  • Ensure seamless interoperability between marine communication, navigation, and operational systems.
  • Configure and harden network systems according to maritime network security best practices, including IMO MSC.428(98) and ISO/IEC 27001 standards.
  • Conduct penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, RF security testing, and protocol compliance checks for shipboard systems.
  • Monitor network and system performance using maritime-specific monitoring tools and network security platforms, identifying anomalies and mitigating threats.
  • Implement protective measures against cyber threats such as unauthorized access, spoofing, malware, denial-of-service attacks targeting shipboard infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime network security regulations, including IMO guidelines, the ISM Code, and local port authority requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, integration logs, security audit reports, and incident response records for onboard systems.
  • Provide risk assessments, technical briefings, and security updates to ship officers, technical teams, and management.
  • Collaborate with ship operations, IT, and network security teams to enforce vessel-wide security policies.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues, including connectivity failures, navigation system discrepancies, or security vulnerabilities.
  • Stay updated with emerging maritime technologies, cyber threats, and security protocols, integrating innovative solutions into vessel networks.
  • Provide post-integration technical support, system monitoring, and incident response for safe and compliant operations at sea.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Network Security.
  • 4-7 years of experience in marine network integration, shipboard infrastructure, and maritime network security.
  • Expertise in shipboard communication systems, radar, navigation systems, and controllers, including secure configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with network security tools, encryption, monitoring platforms, and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of maritime communication protocols (VHF, AIS, Satcom, GMDSS) and onboard IT/OT network architectures.
  • Relevant network/security certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CEH, or maritime network security certifications are a plus.
  • Familiarity with maritime regulatory frameworks (IMO MSC.428(98), ISM Code, ISO/IEC 27001) and network security best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under high-pressure, offshore, and compliance-driven environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional coordination between technical, operational, and compliance teams.
