We are looking for a System Engineer to join our team on a 1-year renewable contract, supporting an exciting project with a global multinational client. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining customized SUSE Linux OS images tailored to the client's specific hardware and software needs. You will use configuration management tools such as Salt or Ansible to automate and streamline system setup, while applying test-driven development practices to ensure reliability and maintainability. The role also involves creating and maintaining detailed documentation for all configurations, tools, and processes, as well as developing diagnostic scripts that integrate with existing diagnostic suites to improve troubleshooting for both configuration and hardware-related issues.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teamsincluding hardware engineering, software development, and system integrationto ensure smooth deployment and ongoing support of Linux-based systems. Regular participation in team meetings, design reviews, and code walkthroughs will be key to staying aligned with project goals and sharing progress updates.

We're looking for someone with proven experience in Linux OS customization and image creation, strong scripting abilities in Bash or Python, and familiarity with configuration management tools such as SaltStack or Ansible. A solid understanding of test-driven development, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Preferred candidates will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication and teamwork, a proactive and self-motivated attitude, and experience with hardware troubleshooting and integration using diagnostic tools.
