The Facilities Technician is responsible for carrying out preventive, corrective, and ad-hoc maintenance work within the building or facility. The role includes performing inspections, supporting maintenance activities, managing service contractors, and ensuring all facilities and equipment operate efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for building systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- Prepare lists of required materials, tools, and machinery for maintenance and repair work.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure proper operation and maintenance of facilities.
- Assist in supervising maintenance and servicing works carried out by contractors and vendors.
- Coordinate and oversee on-site works performed by service providers and report any irregularities to the Site Manager or Supervisor.
- Perform hands-on maintenance and handyman tasks, including minor repairs, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and other building-related works.
- Diagnose and rectify building-related faults promptly to minimize downtime.
- Document inspection findings, maintenance activities, and rectification work accurately.
- Attend to all work orders and ensure timely completion to meet operational requirements.
- Support maintenance of kitchen and equipment systems where applicable.
- Maintain proper records of consumables and raise replenishment requests when inventory is low.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental standards and report any incidents or hazards immediately.
- Keep supervisors informed of any significant issues, incidents, or matters requiring attention.
- Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to improving maintenance practices and processes.
- Perform any other ad hoc duties or projects as assigned by management.
Key Performance Areas:
- Adherence to maintenance schedules and quality standards.
- Timely and accurate reporting of maintenance activities and incidents.
- Proactive identification of cost-saving or efficiency improvement opportunities.
- Professional communication and teamwork within the maintenance and operations teams.
- Compliance with safety and operational procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Minimum NITEC in Building Services, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in building or facility maintenance.
- Good knowledge and hands-on experience in building, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proactive, responsible, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- A good team player with a positive and safety-conscious attitude.
- Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) will be an advantage.
