Key Responsibilities

System Design & Engineering:

• Design telecommunications systems for offshore platforms including PAGA, telephony (PABX/VoIP), CCTV, and emergency communication systems.
• Develop system specifications, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation for VSAT, LAN/WiFi, radio systems (UHF/VHF), and navigational equipment.
• Perform telecommunications calculations including radio coverage studies, fiber optic link budgets, antenna height calculations, and Fresnel zone analysis.
• Design hazardous area telecommunications equipment complying with IECEx and ATEX standards.

Technical Analysis:

• Conduct telecommunications traffic analysis, bandwidth calculations, and sound pressure level calculations for PA systems.
• Perform power consumption and heat dissipation calculations for telecom equipment.
• Prepare system block diagrams, interconnection diagrams, cable routing layouts, and equipment schedules.
• Review and approve vendor technical specifications and conduct bid evaluations.

Project Coordination:

• Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and other disciplines to ensure proper system integration.
• Interface with clients and vendors to resolve technical issues and provide engineering solutions.
• Support FEED, detailed engineering, and EPC phases of offshore projects.
• Manage remote telecom engineering teams and information flow.

Installation & Commissioning:

• Support offshore installation, commissioning, and testing activities for telecommunications systems.
• Troubleshoot and maintain offshore communication systems including satellite, radio, and fiber optic networks.
• Conduct site surveys and provide technical support during construction phases.

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with telecommunications specialization.
• Minimum 8-12 years experience in telecommunications system design for offshore oil & gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of offshore communication systems: VSAT, PAGA, CCTV, radio systems, LAN/WiFi, and GMDSS.
• Experience with hazardous area telecommunications design and marine classification requirements.
• Proficiency in telecommunications calculation software and MS Office applications.
• CompEx certification preferred.
