Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real world applications.

Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) invites applications for the position of Research Engineer II.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in lithium-ion battery pack design, prototyping, and testing
  • Participate in preparing design scheme
  • Conduct hands-on work pertaining to lab set-up and readiness work with focus on engineering safety and operability.
  • Participate in development of components such as heat exchangers, cooling plates, etc. for energy storage system and battery application.
  • Apply design of experiment (DOE) methodologies to plan and analyze research experiments, ensuring robust and reproducible outcomes.
  • Literature review on equipment specifications and safety standards

Job Requirements:
  • Candidate that possesses a degree in chemical process engineering, electric and electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar is preferable
  • Familiarity with progress engineering and international standards for prototyping and testing
  • Have experience in design of thermal management components (e.g., heat exchangers, coolers, etc.)
  • Have experience in lithium-ion battery recycling and testing
  • Have experience in applying design of experiment (DOE) approach
  • Have skills in tools and processes for process simulation (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, SolidWorks, etc.) and process engineering (e.g., hazard and operability study, process design diagram, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details
  • Have good time management skills
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative.
