About the Role:
As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for deploying and maintaining enterprise IT infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. This role involves system administration, virtualization, automation, cybersecurity, and technical support to ensure that mission-critical systems remain secure, reliable, and scalable. The position requires close collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver high-availability solutions and support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Systems Administration & Infrastructure Management
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain servers, virtualization platforms, storage devices, firewalls, and related infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems (Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux), databases, and system management tools.
  • Perform system upgrades, patch management, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Provision and configure new servers and client VMs, including IPs, VLANs, and vNICs.
  • Maintain and support enterprise-grade hardware (Dell servers, Cisco switches, FortiGate firewalls, UPS, Dell EMC storage).

2. Virtualization, Cloud & Automation
  • Administer virtualization environments to ensure high availability, scalability, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Support hybrid cloud integration (AWS, Azure, or private cloud) as part of modernization initiatives.
  • Develop automation scripts using Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, or Bash to streamline routine tasks.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for rapid deployment of updates, patches, and enhancements.

3. Security, Compliance & Reliability
  • Apply system hardening measures (e.g., SELinux, firewalls, secure authentication, CIS benchmarks).
  • Ensure compliance with IT governance, audit requirements, and data protection regulations.
  • Conduct system health checks, log reviews, and preventive maintenance.
  • Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.

4. Support, Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Liaise with vendors, service providers, and IT teams for issue resolution and solution delivery.
  • Participate in infrastructure and project implementation involving networking, storage, and security solutions.
  • Maintain technical documentation (SOPs, diagrams, reports) and recommend improvements for automation, resilience, and efficiency.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Manager in support of team and organizational goals.

Requirements:
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of combined experience in system administration, infrastructure support, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and supporting networking, computing, and middleware infrastructures.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server (AD, DNS, GPO, Failover Clustering) and Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) administration.
  • Experience with enterprise virtualization.
  • Familiarity with storage systems (SAN/NAS), backup/recovery solutions, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Understanding of networking concepts (IP, VLANs, firewalls, routing) and enterprise hardware (Dell, NetApp, Cisco, Fortinet, Nutanix).

Qualifications:
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills; able to work independently and in teams.
  • High sense of responsibility, integrity, and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and support both senior engineers and end users.

What will make you stand out:
  • Experience with automation and DevOps tools (Ansible, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Relevant certifications are advantageous, such as: Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE, Azure Administrator), Red Hat (RHCSA/RHCE), Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
