Job Description

A. Product Development & Innovation

• To plan & carry out daily experiments and to decide on and finalise the best formulation for application, new products & solutions.
• Development of new ideas and new products through literature searches and bench-top experimentation.
• Innovate with ingredients, flavors, textures, and nutritional profiles to differentiate products in the market.
• Develop recipes to optimize product functionality for customers.
• Explore emerging food technologies, novel ingredients, and sustainable processing methods.
• To share ideas with customers on Japanese food application.
• To share recipe ideas with HQ A&I centre regularly.

B. Production & Pilot Plant Operations

• To conduct pilot plant trials, including product shelf-life study and sensory tests.
• Attend pilot plant/production trials at customers' premises.
• To assess suitability of new equipment before use.

C. Application, Quality & Market Readiness

• To provide estimates on product costings to ensure products' formulation brings in profits after production.
• Ensure all products meet food safety regulations, quality standards, and labelling requirements.
• To evaluate experimental samples and work closely with sales team to address customers' needs.
• Visit customers (with sales personnel) for trial, troubleshooting, product promotion, technical advice etc.
• Communicate with sales/marketing team to have clear understanding of customers' and market requirements.
• Keep up to date on information regarding market trends, ideas and technology for products.
• Share new Technology with Team Members.
• Launch new projects

Job Requirements

• Must hold a Master's in Agriculture.
• Must have experience as a Team Lead.
• Having strong Japanese language skills to connect with HQ A&I Centre members.
• With 4 to 6 years working experience in R&D role.
• Strong knowledge of food chemistry, ingredient functionality, and processing technologies.
• Familiarity with sensory evaluation and relevant food regulations.
• Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and technical report writing.
