About the Role

Senior PD Lab Technician is primarily responsible for conducting daily pilot trials to support product development. In addition, the role ensures preventive maintenance of lab equipment, keeping all instruments properly maintained and functioning optimally. The technician follows GMP, HALAL and HACCP standards as per Barry Callebaut's quality guidelines and supports the team with application lab testing when needed. He also can be a mentor and guides other technicians in troubleshooting and resolving trial-related issues, while liaising with product experts to ensure trials meet development objectives. The role is crucial for maintaining lab trials efficiency & quality.

Key Responsibilities Includes

• Responsible on daily pilot trials, ensure the lab trials meeting the specification.

• Responsible on monthly stock check for raw materials in pilot plant, ensure the stock is sufficient for lab usage.

• Responsible on GMP, HACCP, HALAL and 5S implementation in the lab, maintaining the lab condition in safe & clean condition.

• Responsible for preventive maintenance for lab equipment, ensure the equipment is properly maintained.

• Supporting the team for application test when required.

• Min polytechnic graduate with Diploma in the relevant field of Food Science or equivalent.

• Required to carry heavy items and willing to work additional task in executing Laboratory and Pilot Plant trials.

About You

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in an R&D and/or Manufacturing environment more particularly in the food industry.

• Preferably with experience in operating, maintaining and doing actual troubleshooting on chocolate/compound pilot trials.

• Knowledge of policies and procedures in an R&D laboratory environment and principles of GMP, HACCP, and HALAL.

• Able to communicate, read and write in English; other local languages such as Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin will be an added advantage.

• Good knowledge of compound and chocolate is an added advantage

• Basic knowledge & skills for maintenance task

• Basic hands on experience in application test would be an advantage.

• Support the lab coordinator in ensuring smooth lab operations and continuous improvement.

• As a Senior PD Lab Technician, he will be able to mentor and guide junior team members, helping them develop technical skills and solve complex trial-related problems.

• The role provides the chance to contribute ideas for process optimization and troubleshooting, playing a key part in resolving challenges and enhancing overall efficiency.

• Knowledge & experience working in the food industry
