Responsibilities
- Receive laboratory specimens through main Pneumatic Tube delivery system and over the counter and reject those that are unsuitable for analysis.
- Operate the Laboratory Information System to perform functions such as order entry (only if required), sample receipt, result query and result entry.
- Sort and arrange specimens in collection bins for different sections and dispatch samples to the correct benches. Perform simple processing and sorting.
- Manage specimen movement for in-house and send out test. To ensure specimens are packed according to test catalogue for send-out test.
- Receive and response enquiries from customers at reception and escalate to suitable personnel when they are unclear.
- Perform basic rapid testing. Perform all procedures in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Alert appropriate laboratory personnel of critical values.
- Undertake preventive maintenance on laboratory instrumentation. Notify appropriate laboratory personnel when laboratory instruments malfunction.
- Notify appropriate laboratory personnel when test kits, reagents or other supplies should be re-ordered.
- Report any adverse incidents to senior member of staff.
- Perform shift duties as required.
- Keep current with new instrumentation, techniques, and procedures by attending/participating in appropriate workshops, seminars, and in-service education classes.
- Comply with good laboratory practice as set out by the laboratory Accreditation Programme of the College of American Pathologist and Singapore regulatory agencies.
- Receive and resolve queries from customers.
- Promptly carry out instruction(s) of senior staff with regards to work procedures and duties.
- Comply with all requirements of the Laboratory Safety Manual.
Requirements
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science or related subject
- Preferably with relevant clinical laboratory experience
