A Quantity Surveyor (QS) in an interior design (ID) firm is responsible for managing costs and contracts related to interior design projects. This includes tasks like preparing cost estimates, managing budgets, negotiating with subcontractors, and ensuring projects stay within financial parameters. They work closely with designers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed successfully and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation and Management:Conducting quantity take-offs from drawings, preparing cost estimates and budgets, forecasting material costs, and monitoring project expenses.

Tender and Contract Management:Preparing bills of quantities and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.

Liaison and Communication:Working with clients, designers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

Documentation and Reporting:Preparing reports, analyses, and other documents related to project costs and financial performance.

Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Background:A Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is typically required.

Experience:To 2 years Relevant experience in the interior design or fit-out industry is highly valued.

Technical Skills:Proficient in cost estimation, quantity take-off, contract management, and financial reporting.

Soft Skills:Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Knowledge:Familiarity with relevant industry standards, construction contracts, and local regulations is beneficial.

Teamwork:Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
