A Plumbing and Sanitary Quantity Surveyor prepares cost estimations, tenders, and budgets for plumbing and sanitary works, conducts quantity take-offs, negotiates with subcontractors and suppliers, manages claims, variation orders, and final accounts, and liaises with project stakeholders. Key responsibilities include cost analysis, contract administration, preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and ensuring projects remain within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quantity Take-Offs & Costing:Measure and calculate the quantities of materials and labor required for plumbing and sanitary installations from construction drawings.
  • Tender & Bid Preparation:Prepare tender submissions, including BOQs, quotations, and necessary documentation for bidding on projects.
  • Budget Management:Prepare, monitor, and update project budgets, tracking costs and making adjustments as needed.
  • Subcontractor & Supplier Management:Source, evaluate, compare, and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain favorable terms.
  • Contract Administration:Handle general contract administration duties, including preparing and reviewing subcontract agreements.
  • Claims & Variations:Prepare and monitor monthly progress claims, variation orders, and assist with the final account settlement.
  • Liaison & Communication:Coordinate with various project stakeholders, including developers, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Cost Control & Analysis:Conduct cost analysis, monitor project costs, and implement cost control measures.
  • Drawing Interpretation:Read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications related to plumbing and sanitary systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience:Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a specialization in plumbing and sanitary works.
  • Education:A diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is generally required.
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency in relevant software like AutoCAD and estimating tools such as Cubicost TME is often preferred.
  • Soft Skills:Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills are essential for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
  • Work Ethic:Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and to meet tight deadlines is crucial.
