This role combines technical quantity surveying work with drafting and project coordination responsibilities. The ideal candidate must balance analytical tasks (such as quantity take-offs and tender document preparation) with field and coordination activities.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves several areas of work, which can be divided into three main sections:

A. Tender and Contract Preparation
  • Document Compilation:
    Collaborate with architects and/or clients to prepare, analyze, and compile tender documents, quotations, and contracts. This involves the creation of bills of quantities.
  • Tender Summary Preparation:
    Assist with preparing summarized reports of tenders to aid management decision-making.
  • Strategic Pricing:
    Continuously monitor market trends and advise on pricing strategies to improve tender success rates.

B. On-Site and Technical Tasks
  • Quantity Take-Off:
    Perform detailed quantity take-offs, ensuring accuracy in preparation of required estimates.
  • Site Visits:
    Attend site visits when required to validate quantities and project progress.
  • Value of Work:
    Assess and value completed work as part of progress reporting and final project account finalization.
  • Progress Claims & Variations:
    Assist in preparing progress claims and variation orders, ensuring accurate reflection of completed tasks and adjustments.

C. Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination
  • Resource Sourcing:
    Identify and source suppliers and subcontractors to support different stages of the construction project.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates should fulfill the following criteria:

Educational & Professional Background
  • Qualification:
    At least a Diploma in Building or Construction, Civil or Structural Engineering; higher certifications are viewed favorably.
  • Experience:
    A minimum of 3 years' experience in relevant fields, particularly in RC/Structural & Electrical works.
  • Specialization:
    Preference for candidates with exposure to industry trends and experience with Design & Build Tenders.

Technical and Software Proficiency
  • AutoCAD:
    Proficiency in both 2D and 3D drafting.
  • Microsoft Office Suite:
    Advanced skills in Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel for data handling and reporting.

Personal Qualities and Soft Skills
  • Integrity and Dependability:
    A high level of professional integrity, urgency, and dependability to meet project deadlines.
  • Professional Attitude:
    Mature, highly motivated, confident, and self-driven with a continuous learning mindset.
  • Communication:
    Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are critical.
  • Independence:
    Ability to work responsibly and independently under minimal supervision.

Citizenship/Local Preferences
  • Eligibility:
    Preference for Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents (PR), or Malaysians.
