Key Responsibilities:
Safety Management and Compliance:
- Create and enforce safety policies that meet government and company standards.
- Ensure adherence to workplace safety laws, conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments in line with the WSH Act.
- Work with regulatory bodies (e.g., Ministry of Manpower) to maintain compliance and conduct regular site inspections.
Risk Assessment and Hazard Management:
- Manage risk assessments for work activities, identify hazards, and implement safety measures.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure safe practices and conduct risk assessments before new projects begin.
- Develop systems for hazard identification and reporting by staff and contractors.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and suggesting corrective actions.
- Report incidents and occupational diseases to authorities and ensure preventive measures are implemented.
Training and Development:
- Create and deliver safety training programs on protocols, emergency response, and regulatory requirements.
- Organize regular safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and drills to promote a safety-focused workforce.
- Update training materials for new hires and refresher courses for current employees, keeping in line with changing regulations.
Continuous Improvement and Safety Culture:
- Promote a strong safety culture, encouraging personal responsibility for safety at all levels.
- Analyze safety data, identify trends, and implement actions to improve safety performance.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety considerations into operations.
Emergency Preparedness and Response:
- Develop and implement emergency plans for fire safety, evacuation, and first aid procedures.
- Ensure emergency response plans are up-to-date, conduct regular drills, and assess readiness with emergency teams.
What we are looking at:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Possession of a valid Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) certification.
- Additional certifications, such as Fire Safety Manager or ISO Lead Auditor, are a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience in workplace safety and health, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory position.
