As a key member of the HRBP team supporting the College/School, you are responsible to support stakeholders in the assigned School as a HR specialist in faculty-related policies and processes You will support a broad spectrum of work related to the attraction and development of the Faculty members within the University. This includes faculty searches, re-appointment, re-employment, appraisal, promotion and tenure exercises.
Key responsibilities:
1. Talent Attraction, Appointment/Re-appointment of Faculty Members
• Lead the end-to-end process of faculty recruitment, reappointment, and post-retirement re-employment across diverse academic tracks.
• Partner with school leadership to craft compelling job descriptions, drive international talent searches, and ensure a smooth onboarding journey including relocation support.
• Provide strategic support for academic leadership appointments and reappointments by preparing approval documents, analysing institutional needs, and aligning decisions with university policies.
2. Drive and manage the Promotion and Tenure (PT) processes
• Oversee the full life cycle of PT and EPPE processes, from faculty briefings and dossier preparation guidance to committee coordination and rigorous dossier reviews to ensure alignment with university standards.
• Coordinate faculty performance appraisals through structured review processes, calibration sessions, and collaboration with people managers, while supporting developmental initiatives such as mentorship programmes.
• Partner with academic leadership to provide timely advisory on promotion readiness, career planning, and institutional briefings for faculty across tenured, tenure-track, and education tracks.
3. Support and Advisory in other HR Matters
• Serve as a strategic HR advisor to School leadership, providing guidance on HR policies, disciplinary matters, grievance handling, workforce planning, and employee relations.
• Streamline HR systems and processes for efficiency and compliance, ensure alignment with university frameworks, and drive continuous improvement through feedback and change management.
• Work with HR Centers of Excellence (CoE) and internal stakeholders to implement people-centric projects such as policy reviews, faculty engagement efforts, performance management, and organizational development initiatives.
• Handle ad hoc tasks as needed, such as managing the Associate Chair (Faculty)'s calendar and scheduling meetings to support daily operations.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in HR and/or administrative functions
• Good knowledge of Employment Act and Labour Laws
• Experience in higher education or academic recruitment is highly desirable
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
• Able to build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships at all levels; handle sensitive matters with tact and discretion, while building trust and upholding confidentiality
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) as you will be expected to draft faculty search reports on the candidates who are recommended for appointments/re-appointments/promotion.
Successful candidates will be appointed on 3-year fixed term contract at the first instance. He/she can be considered for permanent appointment subsequently, subject to good performance and organisational needs.
