The Assistant Manager serves as an educator and facilitator to foster student development and co-curricular learning by actively engaging with student club leaders and members. In doing so, the job holder supports the cultivation of ownership, social responsibility, inclusiveness, and accountability, in alignment with NTU's educational goals. Additionally, the role functions as an effective intermediary between university management and student governing bodies to enhance overall student engagement.

Key responsibilities

1) Student Governing Bodies/Organisations
  • Oversee student organisations and their sub-clubs.
  • Independently evaluating the relevance, inclusiveness, and effectiveness of their activities and events, and providing coaching to student leaders on program implementation.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration among clubs and with other university offices and external partners to achieve desired learning outcomes.
  • Promote initiatives that enhance intercultural competence.
  • Assess potential risks associated with activities, including the possible consequences for students' learning experiences, and provide appropriate advice.
  • Oversee the allocation and utilization of resources, including funding and facilities.
  • Guide students to organise and lead in safe and meaningful overseas programmes.


2) Data Analysis
  • Conduct feedback, collate statistics, and analyse reports to evaluate effectiveness of organised events and propose improvements.
  • Support the preparation of management reports for submission to MOE and university senior management, where applicable.


3) Supervisory Duties
  • Lead Facilitator for flagship NTU-wide student-led events; orchestrate successful inter-club and inter-office collaboration.


Job Requirements
  • A good degree from a recognised university with at least 5 years of work experience.
  • Relevant experience working with students, particularly in the higher education sector, will be advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database management systems.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and influencing skills (both written and verbal), particularly in collaborating with university students and colleagues from diverse cultural and disciplinary backgrounds.
  • Effective team player with excellent interpersonal skills across all organisational levels.
  • Passionate about mentoring students and helping them achieve their career goals.
