You will join the Renovation and Redecoration (R&R) team within the Office of Development & Facilities Management, which is responsible for overseeing the physical development and maintenance of all University buildings and grounds. Our work supports the University's academic, research, and administrative functions. In this role, you will take a leading role in managing the renovation and upgrading of campus buildings and facilities as part of the R&R team.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing project completion, ensuring adherence to the allocated budget while delivering the intended design set by stakeholders.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with M&E operational requirements and regulatory mandates imposed by research activities.
- Engage stakeholders and conduct thorough assessment to determine the user's requirements for the project, aligning their needs, preferences, timelines and funding constraints for effective project planning.
- Appoint, lead and oversee a team of consultants to drive the project design process, ensuring architects, engineers and other professionals deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions that align with project objectives and compliance standards
- Lead collaboration with project consultants to develop cost estimates and prepare the necessary documentation for budget approval and tender.
- Drive the tendering process, from bid solicitation and evaluation to contract award recommendations, ensuring cost-effective and compliant selection of contractors
- Manage and approve project variation orders ensuring that scope changes or site constraints are effectively assessed, justified, and controlled within the approved procurement value to minimize financial risks.
- Regularly monitor the progress of the construction work to ensure the project stays on schedule and proactively identify any potential issues that may arise.
- Oversee on-site construction activities to ensure the work is carried out safely, at a high-quality level, and in compliance with design and regulatory standards.
- Administer and enforce the construction contract, which entails managing payments, change orders, and other contractual obligations between the project team and the contractor to maintain financial control and contractual compliance.
- Ensure timely processing of regulatory submissions to obtain necessary permits and certifications, facilitating the seamless occupancy and operation of upgraded facilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Building, Facilities Management, or a related field, with minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Consultancy, Construction Management, Project Management, or Facilities Management.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of local regulations, building construction, building services design, installation, and maintenance, with the ability to read construction drawings.
- Proven expertise in project management, including expertise in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in managing tender processes, contractor negotiations, and contract administration, ensuring cost-effective and quality-driven project delivery.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with AutoCAD for design purposes will be added advantage.
- Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive project teams and contractors.
- Self-motivated, with a proactive approach, good analytical capabilities and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
