Assistant Manager, Internship Coordinator

This role plays a crucial role in managing and enhancing the student internship experience. This individual will work together with Career Advancement Office (CAO) and Assistant Dean (Industry & Innovation) to support all aspects of student internships, from initial setup and placement to ongoing support and post-placement evaluation. The Administrator will work closely with students, faculty, and industry partners to ensure a seamless and productive internship experience that aligns with academic and career objectives.

Responsibilities:

Prior to Placement

Program Development and Management:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners and potential internship providers.
  • Follow internship guidelines, policies, and procedures in the college and CAO, maintaining alignment with academic requirements and industry standards.
  • Organize and facilitate internship talks, information sessions, and workshops to educate students about available opportunities and application processes.


Student Preparation:
  • Support students in preparing their applications for internship.
  • Conduct individual or group workshops on professional development, job search strategies, and internship application processes.
  • Review student internship applications and ensure they meet departmental and academic criteria.


Placement Coordination:
  • Collaborate with industry partners to identify and secure internship placements for students.
  • Match students with suitable internships based on their academic background, career goals, and interests.
  • Work with CAO to ensure all internship agreements and contracts are completed accurately and in a timely manner.


During Placement

Ongoing Support:
  • Serve as a point of contact for students, industry partners, and faculty regarding internship-related issues.
  • Monitor student progress through regular check-ins and address any concerns or issues that arise during the internship.
  • Provide support and guidance to students facing challenges or requiring additional resources.


Facilitate Communication:
  • Maintain open communication channels between students, faculty advisors, and internship providers.
  • Co-ordinate with CAO
    • To organize and monitor all evaluations and feedback sessions to assess student performance and internship satisfaction.
    • To address and resolve any conflicts or issues between students and internship providers promptly.


After Placement

Organize Evaluation and Feedback:
  • Organize evaluation of students and feedback from employers to assess program effectiveness.
  • Analyze feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to enhance the internship program.


Program Improvement:
  • Develop and recommend enhancements to the internship program based on evaluation outcomes and emerging industry trends.
  • Prepare and present reports on internship program outcomes, student performance, and industry partnerships to department leadership.


Alumni Relations and Networking:
  • Maintain relationships with former interns and industry partners to support future internship opportunities and program growth.
  • Organize networking events and alumni panels to facilitate ongoing connections between students and industry professionals.


Requirements:
  • You should possess a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, or a related field with at least 4 years of experience.
  • Candidates with experience in program coordination, career services, or a similar role, preferably within an academic or tech-focused environment would be ideal.
  • You should have strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • You should have the ability to work independently and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, faculty, and industry professionals
