Senior Assistant Manager, Residential Education
Residential Education (RE) in the Halls of Residence at NTU plays an integral role in the holistic development of students. Aligned with NTU's education goal of nurturing leaders with the 3 Cs: Character, Competence, and Cognitive agility, RE provides opportunities for students to integrate new knowledge and experiences into their residential hall life.

The RE Unit, housed under the Student Affairs Office (SAO), oversees and manages the value chain of 23 residential halls comprising hall governance involving faculty-in-residence, student leaders and residential mentors, as well as centralised programmes and ground-on initiatives by the hall leadership team.

The Senior Assistant Manager serves as educator-facilitator-administrator to enable student development and structured co-curricular learning under the RE framework, in alignment with RE, SAO and NTU 2025's strategic goals.

Key responsibilities:

Student Development
  • Key liaison person for 8 - 10 Hall Council (HC) ExCo Leaders.
  • Build student leaders' capacity through mentoring and on-the-job guidance, and put in place mechanism for self-responsibility and group accountability.
  • Identify and address gaps in leadership development within the HC and implement solutions through active engagement and empowerment.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration between HC leaders, Hall Governing Bodies, and RE management to achieve RE objectives.
  • Independently evaluate the relevance, inclusiveness and effectiveness of HC activities. Encourage initiative that cultivate intercultural competence and inclusiveness under HC.
  • Evaluate potential risks of activities, including possible consequences of actions or solutions in relation to the learning experience of student participants, and advise accordingly.


Residential Experience
  • Key liaison person for 8 - 10 Halls' Faculty-in-Residence (FiR) and Residential Mentor (RM).
  • Partner with FIR, RM, Student Organisations and appointed instructors to deliver RE programmes that support the development of NTU's 3Cs graduate attributes (Character, Competence and Cognitive Agility).
  • Identify new stakeholders to expand and strengthen the new and existing RE Programmes that are designed with suitable pedagogical approaches and oriented towards the development of NTU's 3C graduate attributes.
  • Plan and roll out RE Centralised Programmes such as Cooking Workshop, Art Therapy Workshop, Astrophotography workshop and so on.
  • Take Lead in coordinating a series of RE Carnival to bring RE closer to NTU Community.


Residence Wellbeing
  • Responsible for the annual RE Welcome Webinar, Table Top Exercise on Student Wellbeing cases and RE e-module.
  • Complement the support provided by University of Wellbeing Office (UWO) and Residential Student Care Team (RSCT) in the identification of needs and provision of relevant support services for Residents.


Administration and Finance

Administration
  • Provide secretariat support to Hall Allocation Scheme Committee and coordination of Hall Presidents' Council Dialogue, Senior FiR (SFiR)/FiR Town Hall, RM Town Hall, SFiR Coffee Sessions, and RE External Visits.
  • Manage and maintain various RE learning spaces in the Halls of Residence.
  • Represent RE and provide support in SAO-Wide and Student and Academic Services Department-Wide Project such as Student Management System Development.


Finance
  • Assess the asset request for HC activities and make necessary recommendation for purchase/replacement.
  • Oversees HC and guide HCs to adhere to university financial guidelines.


Data Analysis
  • Conduct feedback, collate statistics and analyse reports to evaluate effectiveness of organised events and propose improvements.
  • Provide support in the preparation of management reports for submission to the university administration and the ministries as and when required.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in any related field from a recognised University.
  • At least 6 years of working experience which involves considerable interaction with students.
  • Good working knowledge on co-curricular development in the higher education.
  • Experience in the tertiary education sector will be advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, to foster collaboration and active engagement with Hall Leadership Team.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills (written and verbal), to establish and maintain positive relationships with diverse groups.
  • Strong drive to initiate, plan, implement and deliver Residential Experience initiatives.
  • Ability to handle unforeseen challenges and crises with a composed and solution-focused mindset.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office application software.
