Assistant Manager, R&R Projects
You will join the Renovation and Redecoration (R&R) team within the Office of Development & Facilities Management, which is responsible for overseeing the physical development and maintenance of all University buildings and grounds. Our work supports the University's academic, research, and administrative functions. In this role, you will contribute to the renovation and upgrading of campus buildings and facilities as part of the R&R team.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for overseeing project completion within the allocated budget and ensuring the realization of design intents as provided by stakeholders.
  • Fulfill M&E operational requirements and adhere to mandatory compliance regulations imposed by research activities.
  • Conduct thorough assessment to determine the user's requirements for the project, encompassing their needs, preferences, desired timeline for completion, and the available funding sources.
  • Appoint and oversee a team of consultants to guide the project design process, including architects, engineers, and other professionals as required to develop cost estimates and prepare necessary documentation for tender procurement.
  • Initiate the tender process by soliciting and evaluating contractor bids, ultimately providing a recommendation for the contract award.
  • Manage and process any changes to the project's scope or budget that may arise during the course of construction.
  • Regularly monitor the progress of the construction work to ensure the project stays on schedule and proactively identify any potential issues that may arise.
  • Conducting on-site supervision to ensure the work is carried out safely and at a high-quality level.
  • Oversee the administration of the construction contract, which entails managing payments, change orders, and other contractual obligations between the project team and the contractor.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Building, Facilities Management, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Consultancy, Construction Management, Project Management, or Facilities Management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of local regulations, building construction, building services design, installation, and maintenance, with the ability to read construction drawings.
  • Good project management skills, including expertise in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with AutoCAD for design purposes will be added advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, with a positive working attitude, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
