Assistant Director / Senior Assistant Director, HR Policy (Faculty)

As part of the Centre of Excellence team overseeing the University's HR Policies, your key responsibilities would include the following:
  • Develop and review Faculty-related policies and processes to support the University's HR strategies and priorities. This involves identifying policy or process gaps, and areas of alignment if there are differences between policy and practice.
  • Engage key stakeholders in the business units, HR Business Partners (HRBPs), NTU Shared Services (NSS) and other Centre of Excellence (COEs) in the design and review of policies to ensure policies and processes are robust, coherent and implementable before effecting the change, so as to garner buy-in and avoid downstream implementation problems.
  • For all new or revised policies, develop the communication plans and related processes supporting the policies.
  • Brief HRBPs and NSS (where applicable) on the revised policies and processes; guide them on policy application to ensure successful implementation.
  • Advise senior management on faculty-related policies and initiatives
  • Support Associate Provost (Faculty Affairs) (AP(FA)) on the review of faculty-related HR policies and keep OHR supervisors (ROs and CHRO) informed of work being done with AP(FA).
  • Ensure policy revisions are published in a timely manner and updated in the staff handbooks.
  • Support the development and review of other (non-faculty) policies or initiatives, if required.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of experience in designing HR policies or processes. Candidates with relevant experience in faculty HR work will have an advantage.
  • Curious about problems and possess the drive to follow through with analyses. Tenacious in problem-solving and finding practical policy solutions.
  • Independent, manage competing priorities effectively and comfortable navigating a complex and matrixed organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships with senior stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within and outside of HR.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write clearly, concisely and coherently.
  • Strong analytical skills, meticulous and work well under pressure.


Please note that the successful candidate will be offered a 1-year contract at the first instance. He/she can look forward conversion into a permanent appointment, subject to good work performance and the University's prevailing guidelines. Appointment titles (i.e. Assistant Director/Senior Assistant Director etc) offered will commensurate with candidate's prior work experiences.
