NIE invites applications for the position of Senior Assistant Director and Head, Administration, Office of Research.
Responsibilities
- Strategic planning of administrative structures in the Office of Research.
- Oversight of administrative units and operational processes in the Office of Research and the Research Centres (RC).
- Strategic oversight of the administrative (HR and FIN) processes for ERFP and Non ERFP projects helmed by faculty in Office of Research and RCs.
- Ensure good governance and compliance across research administration processes.
- Strategic leadership of the continuous development of the professional standard and productivity of administrative staff.
- Administrative capacity building of MSOs in Office of Research with an interest in learning and development including succession planning and career progression.
- Oversight of the budget, disbursement of funds and monitoring the budgets of operations for programmes under the purview of Office of Research.
- Evaluate and approve ERFP project fund virement requests.
- Perform role of approving authority within delegated funding limits.
- Assist Dean/Office of Research in coordinating staff appraisals in Office of Research, and in the appraisals of Appointment holders.
- Chairperson for all MSO interviews and recruitment.
- Key liaison with CPDO on HR and FIN related matters.
- Oversight of regular stakeholders' reporting such as KPI reporting to MOE and NIE, Director's Strategic Meeting (DSM), NIE Executive Committee and NTU Board of Trustees' reporting.
- Oversight of research projects' compliance to NIE's institutional guidelines and norms.
- Support research management and project governance matters for Office of Research.
- Oversight of logistic support for events in Office of Research.
- Other duties as assigned by Dean, Office of Research.
Requirements
- A university degree.
- Proven experience in administrative roles for at least 10 years, preferably in an academic or research setting.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with a keen interest in developing staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Building and maintaining relations with key stakeholders (researchers, policymakers, educators, etc.).
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software.
- Critical and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to manage and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to multitask.
- Facilitation of change management.
- Good numerical skills.
