Assistant Manager, Finance (Accounts Receivable)

This role is responsible for managing and oversees the day-to-day operations of the University's Shared Services in Student's financial Aid disbursement.

Responsibilities

Financial Aid Disbursement
  • Lead a team managing student loans, CPF, Mendaki, scholarship and other financial aid disbursement and support initiatives rolled out by schools / government agencies / funding agencies etc.
  • Oversee Sponsorship management and billing
  • Monitor debts collection for student loans and sponsorship
  • In-charge of government agencies and funding agency claim's submission
  • Liaise with banks and government agencies on the financial aid schemes
  • Oversees budget for financial Aid disbursement.
  • Ensure all the disbursement transactions are promptly and accurately accounted in financial system
  • Ensure efficient processes, systems and adequate governance and controls are in place
  • Ensure financial aid disbursement comply to the relevant policies and guidelines


Reconciliation and Reporting
  • Review monthly, half-yearly and annual variance reporting.
  • Review monthly balance sheet review reconciliations, year-end financial reporting, audit schedules etc.


Business Transformation
  • Assist or lead business transformation change across systems, processes, people and technology
  • Implement process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and improve staff productivity
  • Support the system enhancements


Relationship Management/Customer Relations
  • Cooperate and build positive relationships with peers and supervisors to ensure process efficiency and consistency.
  • Communicates with funding agencies and other employees to resolve queries/address requests and concerns.


Others
  • Assist in internal and external auditors' queries
  • Assist Reporting Officer in ad-hoc tasks and/or projects assigned


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Accountancy
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, with least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • High level of independence as well as the maturity and ability to work with staff at all levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications (eg. Excel) and IT savvy with using different systems
  • Knowledge on the use of IT tools/software such as Power Query, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is an added advantage
