Assistant Director, Academic Programmes & Student Enrolment

This role will contribute significantly in the review processes of academic proposals and the implementation for Graduate programmes. The incumbent will work independently and collaboratively across teams and be a point of contact with the Ministry of Education on new degree proposals. The incumbent will also ensure judicious management of programme and course archives, and student programme diet records. The Assistant Director will support the Team Lead to direct and provide guidance and oversight of Postgraduate (Coursework) programmes and curriculum administration under the Office Of Academic Services.

Responsibilities

Academic Programme Administration
  • Support academic leaders to secure approval from the Ministry of Education for new programmes, ensuring all internal approval processes are completed, proposals are submitted within prescribed timeline and assist to prepare responses to queries at the various approval levels.
  • Advise Colleges/Schools on the relevant approving authority for their proposals according to the policy and guide them through the processes.
  • Provide academic insights with data and governance considerations to Schools when they are designing new programmes or making revisions, and to academic leaders during the review process.
  • Support the team lead to ensure smooth implementation of academic programmes and initiatives, collaborating with key stakeholders on systems, processes, and schedules.


Approval process for new courses and curricula changes
  • Provide judgement, with operation and system consideration, on academic proposals and ensure compliance with academic framework and policies.
  • Facilitate review and decision-making by highlighting deviation from policies and operational complexities.
  • Assess operational impact and system requirement in consultation with relevant functional teams and engage proposers for a streamlined requirement.


Academic governance, policy and process streamlining
  • Contributes to policy review and development of operational guidelines.
  • Supports business process streamlining, designing of workflow, process automation and system enhancement.
  • Assist in preparing metrics for management reporting, and attending to data requests.
  • Collaborates with business analyst and IT partner on system configurations and change request.
  • Collaborates in assigned projects from defining business process and system requirements to managing project timeline, stakeholder engagement and user acceptance test for a smooth launch.


Administrative Excellence
  • Establish a strong stakeholder engagement that is effective, transparent and professional, and supervise communication on academic matters by junior officers.
  • Regular streamlining of academic services processes across UE and GE to enhance student experience.
  • People manager to a team of junior officers and support staff.
  • Lead and/or support any other ad-hoc/special projects.


Requirements
  • A good degree from a recognised university.
  • At least 10 years of experience preferably in the tertiary education administration.
  • Those with knowledge and exposure in academic programmes, curriculum and credit transfer will have added advantage.
  • Knowledge in data query such as SQL will be a plus.
  • Excellent in written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong planning and organising skills, with high attention to details.
  • Self-driven with high integrity and resilience.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
