About the Role
The Airfreight Import Customer Service Assistant Manager supports the leadership of the import customer service team and ensures smooth end-to-end import operations. This role combines hands-on operational oversight with team supervision, making it ideal for experienced airfreight professionals ready to step into a leadership
position.
Key Responsibilities
• Support and supervise the Airfreight Import Customer Service team to ensure smooth daily operations
• Oversee end-to-end import processes, including documentation, coordination with carriers, customs compliance, billing, and job closure
• Monitor daily shipment activities to ensure adherence to service standards and internal procedures
• Identify workflow gaps and support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency
• Track team performance against SLAs and KPIs, providing guidance and escalation support when required
• Handle complex customer enquiries and act as a point of escalation for import-related service issues
• Coordinate closely with Airfreight Operations, Customs, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely shipment execution
• Support implementation and compliance with customer service policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
• Experience in airfreight import customer service or airfreight operations, with supervisory exposure
• Strong understanding of airfreight import workflows, documentation, and customs requirements
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Able to communicate clearly with customers, team members, and internal stakeholders
• Comfortable supporting and motivating a customer service team
• Hands-on experience with CargoWise system is preferred
